We have now come to the end of our visa! That\u2019s the first time I have ever been able to say that. 3 months in Costa Rica! A beautiful, chilled out, and peaceful little country to be. We will both be sad to leave. But, of course this is only to be a temporary departure. The process of buying land has begun and can be dealt with whilst we travel back north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan is to drive back up, very slowly, through all the same border controls and complications and back to the states. Here we will be able to sell the car. The only feasible solution to the problem. Probably in Texas which is where we intend to cross the border. We will try to get top dollar for her but at the end of the day (or trip) she will have careered her way through thousands of miles of potholes, topes and rivers to transport us both and all our luggage 9000 miles! Bless her for her stalwart effort she has not stuttered for one moment. I am fearful of speaking too soon but I have faith in her for the journey back. But we are prepared for the inevitable depreciation in value when we sell her. Cheap car hire for that amount of time really. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we dispose of her we will take our flights back home and spend Christmas there with family. Daniela will fly to Palermo to be with her loved ones too. It has been so long since we left the UK now and missing friends and family is the only negative I can find after being here for so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will be spending our time organizing the purchase of the land here which can take about two months.  I will be designing our house and doing drawings for the architect to stamp. My technical drawing lessons as a kid and working in a drawing office for a time help in that respect. We have plenty of ideas and inspiration to draw from and we can take our time making sure we have a home that is affordable and satisfies all our needs. I have been told that I should do the pool and terrace first so that Daniela can relax while I build the house! Why not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you Costa Rica for being so welcoming. We have made lots of friends here. Everybody is so laid back and keen for you to succeed. We love it here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So tomorrow we are off into the unknown again. Through some of the most notoriously dangerous areas of Central America. But having done it once already it doesn’t worry us at all. To us it is just more adventure. Wish us luck!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
