We spent a grand total of five hours in Honduras! Wow. From the border where we crossed into the country it is not very wide. You can cross it in about three hours but we got stuck in traffic jams most of the time. Breakdowns, police checks, goats on the road you name it Honduras provides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roads are excellent though. A big surprise throughout El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua is the quality of the tarmac. Well tended and maintained making driving here very easy, when the road is clear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped for a midday coffee in a petrol station. Whilst it was almost impossible to get the type of coffee we wanted, apparently a latte is a cappuccino here, whether you like it or not, the bathrooms, however were straight out of a home furnishing post on Pinterest. I include Daniela’s coveted picture here for you to admire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a beautiful country, from what we saw. Lush, green, tidy and welcoming. I have been extremely surprised by the lack of rubbish and cleanliness after Guatemala and Mexico. You do have to be aware of the police though. They are quite hot on speed and have random speed checks everywhere. So keep to the speed limit. Though one guy we met was stopped on his motorcycle and said the police were only interested in the bike and how fast it could go. They let hime pass with no ticket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think I would like to return to Honduras some time in the future to explore it a little further, but for now it was just a race to get two border crossings done in one day. A shame, but, as I have said before, we are on a mission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, Honduras was a fun experience, an opportunity to create new traffic lanes on the opposite side of the road, exquisite bathrooms and friendly people everywhere. We loved it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
